CARICOFE FARM SELLS FOR $14,000
Heirs Buy Place – During Peak Times $40,000 Offered For It.
The late newton Caricofe farm, near Dayton, containing 133 acres and embracing fine land, was sold at public auction Friday for $14,000, the purchasers being the heirs, howard Caricofe, Ward Caricofe, Starke Caricofe, and Mrs. Lemuel Miller.
During the land-price peak times Mr. Caricofe sold this farm for $40,000. He decided later he did not wish to part with his old home and gave the purchaser $500 for return of the farm. This farm contains one of the finest grazing meadows in the county.
The sale was held to settle up the Caricofe estate. Cows sold from $20 to $49, and farm machinery brought good prices.
“There was active bidding for everything sold,” said Auctioneer Charles Hilbert. “In fact the bidding and interest in the sale among farmers indicate people believe better times are on their way back.’
There were two bidders for the farm.
