Mrs. Lemuel D. Miller

Mrs. Carrie Caricofe Miller, 68, wife of Lemuel D. Miller, and a beloved resident of the Dayton community, died at 2:45 Tuesday afternoon at the Rader nursing Home. Mrs. Miller suffered a paralytic stroke last Sept. and had been a patient in the Nursing Home for the past three months.

A daughter of the late Newton N. Caricofe and Mary Ritchie Caricofe, she was born on Nov. 23, 1890 in the Mt. Clinton section but moved to the Dayton community in early life. On Feb. 13, 1916, she married Lemuel D. miller who survives her. She was a member of the College Street Church of the Brethren and took an active interest in Church affairs as long as her health permitted.

Besides her husband, a prominent Rockingham county resident and retired carpenter, she is survived by six children, Paul N. Miller of Grottoes; Emory A. Miller, Leon D. Miller, and Don H. Miller all of Dayton; Mrs. J.F. Bosserman, of Weyers Cave; and Mrs. R.T. Bruce, Jr., of Harrisonburg.

She also leaves 15 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Wilda Cline, of Montezuma; and four brothers, D.m. Caricofe, of Harrisonburg, Route 1; Howard Caricofe, of Akron, Ohio; John Caricofe, of Harrisonburg, Route 1; and Stark Caricofe, of Dayton.A son, James and one brother, Ward, and a sister, Mrs. Laura Messick, preceded her in death.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday afternoon at four o’-clock from the College Street Church of the Brethren in Bridgewater. The Rev. Bernard N. King will conduct the services assisted by the Rev. Simon D. Glick and burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Bridgewater.

The body now rests at the Lindsey Funeral Home where relatives, friends and pallbearers are asked to meet Thursday afternoon at 3:25 for a brief prayer service prior to leaving for the Church.

The casket will not be opened in the Church.

Active pallbearers will be Ira Shanholtzer, O.G. whitmer, Harold D. miller, Oliver B. Kiser, Paul Estep, and Dwight L. Estep.

The members of the family will receive friends at the funeral home this evening from 7:30 until 8:30.
