Farmhouse location as identified on the Lathrop & Griffing Atlas of Rockingham County, VA from 1885. Currently know as “Martin’s Wild Game Processing.”
The exact boundaries of the farm proper are not currently known, though we do have the coordinates for the “Cannery Plot” from the Rockingham County Courthouse records. John’s farm eventually likely included land on both sides of the railroad extending to the north east where the cannery is said to have been located according to family history. This is also supported by the fact that the name of the extant road and neighborhood in this area are “cannery road” and “cannery wood” respectively.
